The quilt for this Fridays theme ‘What Is It?’ is below the photo.
The theme for this Friday is ‘What Is It?’ — lichen on granite rock. I’ve been taking many, many shots of rocks around my property to use as textures, but this one had a little more to it than just a texture and I liked the lichen growing on it.
This little quilt for this Friday’s theme ‘What Is It?’ was made from a single piece of furnishing fabric I had and the left over thread ends from hundreds of lines of stitching. I have saved these for years and have boxes of thread bits. I love doing what I have done here, free stitching over a handful of threads spread on solvie, a water soluble film. I then dissolve the solvie overnight and am left with the stitched mess of thread that can be used as is or cut to shape for 3D or raised texture. Here I used it as lichen over the rocklike fabric
