This baby goanna was chased into the gap between the sliding door and screen door by Flair. Yes it was inside the house. At about 20″ long it would still scratch badly but the adults can grow to a couple of metres (yards +) and their claws can be lethal to smaller animals. Each goanna is supposed to have different colouration and markings, the few I’ve been able to get close enough to for a shot have all been different but they are hard to photograph as they can move very fast and climbing trees is their preferred defence mechanism. Once on a tree they continually keep the tree between themselves and the perceived enemy and continue to climb.
