Mt. Nemrut, one of the ancient sights of SE Turkey, an incredible monument to one king who decided to call himself a God. He had a pyramid and huge statues built ontop of a high mountain in the wilderness. We started our drive to Mt. Nemrut at 2AM to be up top for sunrise. By the time we started the half hour walk it was raining and by the time we got to the top we had sleet and light hail. Soon after the sky lightened and the rain stopped and we had the mountain to ourselves as no-one else was crazy enough to even start the climb. A truly amazing sight and we even got a bit of colour in the sky at sunrise – though I decided to make these images B&W.
