I’ve been home from Fiji a month now and during that time discovered not one but two different native terrestrial orchids growing on my property. I’ve seen orchids here before but never these two in all of 14 years. Strange how things happen but then again our seasons are changing and where we once had very dry winters this June has been wet, wet, wet!

This is a Greenhood orchid, possibly a Sharp Greenhood. It grows on a stem approx. 8-10cm tall and is itself only about 3cm. The one below was even smaller!

I haven't been able to find what kind of orchid this is or even if it is an orchid. If anyone knows I'd love you to tell me. The stem is about 8-10cm tall but the flowers are tiny, less than 1cm and approx. 5-7 per stem. The only reason I noticed them is because the slightly curved helmet ontop was catching the early morning light.
