From the same fenceline I was pulling down last week and was attached to the Old Gate (see last Sunday’s Post https://beyondpurgatory.wordpress.com/2013/07/28/old-gate/ ). It was all that was holding one side of the gate upright.

Another section of my old fenceline. I have spent the past week pulling out the old wire along this 700 metre section – four lines of wire ( two barbed and two plain), 175 droppers and 700 wire ties. My hands sure know about it. It was perfect weather to be outdoors with low 20 degree centigrade and sunshine.

Just goes to prove the saying that you don’t see until your eyes have been opened. While looking for a doorway to photograph in town I had never noticed this doorway/gateway before and it is on the main street, because I wasn’t looking for it.
This quilt for the theme for this Friday – Doorway – nearly didn’t make it. I actually thought Doorway was a simple theme and left it very late to start which meant a big rush at the last minute.

Anything over 100 years old is OLD in Australia. This gate is OLD, I don’t know how old but it is of iron and rusted and beautifully coated in lichen.
This Fridays theme quilt “Old” is a version of the crazy patch block which was often made to use up fabric scraps that were too small to be used in any other quilt. It sometimes had lace and/or the initials of the maker on it and many blocks would make the larger quilt.
