March already! Admittedly Feb only had 28 days but even so . . . . . . I’ve been busy, busy, busy. Numerous projects on the go, lots of trial printing of said projects, time spent in Obi Obi Creek for more photos – you understand LOL. Getting wills and other official documents drawn up, simple but complex. Flew to Sydney for the first Masterclass of the year and caught up with my kids and grandkids, a great time.
The Masterclass is with Len Metcalf, a professional photographer, teacher, leader and artist. We meet every 2 months (six times for the year), 3 days mid week to learn, have our projects critiqued (everyone is doing something different), be inspired and nurtured, go shooting and come away with ideas to strengthen our projects, work our minds and read. Only 10 in the class so quality time for everyone and we all learn from each other during the critique sessions. Full on and a great way to take my photography up a notch or two in the company of like minded people.
Flair had a lovely holiday at the kennels while I was away. I also found out that if I book far enough ahead and get the special deals on flights, even with boarding costs for Flair and leaving my car at the airport costs, it works out about the same to fly as to drive and I save a day and a half time wise each way. All good when time is short.

I don’t know what it is over the Xmas break, but I seem to think I’ll have nothing to do for the year and over commit to courses or buy books to read – it’s so easy with 1-click on Amazon and a bit of a disaster but a nice one 🙂 So with a ‘special’ on Creative Live’s “Creative Pass” ( a year long ability to watch any of their hundreds/thousands? of video classes any time I like) I bought that; then Biddy Tarot (an Australian Tarot teacher) had a special on one of her courses, had to have that; and Denise Love of “2 Lil Owls” released a photo encaustic couse (on special), I’ve wanted to learn that for a while. All a bit eclectic and making life full-on, particularly when I already knew I had the Masterclass for the whole year!!!!!
The Creative Live courses are proving to be interesting as I’m choosing ones I wouldn’t normally go for just to see what they’re all about. The Encaustic photography one I’m going slowly as there is a bit of gear to get together, some of which requires a bit of searching to find but looks exciting. Biddy Tarot is the only one so far that I haven’t got past the introductory video but I’m drawing a tarot card a day and that has been interesting just by itself. Then there’s the Masterclass which I think will take up a lot of my time to do it properly and gain the most from it. Oh, and I’m trying to create at least 2 or 3 artsy photos a week because I really enjoy doing that. Thank goodness I’m retired!
And finally; I’ve at last found a professional photographer who holds workshops in this area and booked into a portrait class for the first Sat in March (tomorrow) to see what he’s like. A busy month of Feb. and March looks like being more of the same if not more so. Come back on the First Friday next month to see what has been happening in my life and where I’m at with juggling all these balls (courses) together.
