Although the glossy tourist brochures would have us believe that the Greek Isles are all white buildings with blue domes and doors there are many other colours mixed in amongst the buildings as people try to make a distinction between themselves and the next place. Still it’s overall a white and blue effect.
Oooops, late again. Came back from the Greek Isle with a lousy cold so I’ll use that as the excuse to be late with posting. Warm golden glow of sunset on the building next to our hotel in Finikia, Santorini.
I love this photo there is so much going on in it. The frame of the bike, the bougainvillea, the cross on a church, the angles of the terraced houses, the blue, blue sky and the different reds of the buildings. It all says Mediterranean to me.
In the style of a fashion shoot, this was someone’s roof top right beside the public path. Many houses had roof tops decorated as though they were ready for a fashion shoot so I took advantage of them for my own photos.
Our first sunrise from the old fort in Oia (pronounced EeA) was less than promising with a heavy cloud coming in and sitting over the mountain right on sunrise. Then a shaft of light broke through and all the waiting was worthwhile.
And another shaft of light later.
Heavy cloud and a shaft of light
As the sun rose higher the rays spread.
And of course after sunrise the cloud started lifting.
