This Banksia seed pod has a “Subtle Grunge” texture from Lost and Taken over it to make the background more blurred and only parts of the banksia are erased. This is another free Texture blog I found with more wonderful textures, you’ll find it here http://lostandtaken.com/

How fortunate that “Dark Pines” commented on my blog, so I went to see what he was up too and found these fantastic free textured backgrounds. Boxing Day Textures are the group of textures and I used “drips old paper 4a” with the rose image above. And I love what it does to my image. I’m still learning how to use textures so my erasing over the rose is a bit rough. If anyone can help me with an easier way to take the texture off the rose instead of using layers and erasing I’d love to know. Thanks to Dark Pines blog for the inspiration.

Yesterday morning there was a heavy mist at sunrise, it is the beginning of Autumn in Australia and at this time of the year we get beautifully cool nights (for us) and the days are still warm (30degrees C.) The morning light on the eucalypts in the mist along with a very slight panning of the camera created a painterly mood in this shot. I was happy with a number of my images yesterday, the light was beautiful.
