This is the type of sled we rode in across the ice and snow to get to the area of reindeers and reindeer herders (the Sami people). It fits two people, is light and easily towed behind the snowmobiles.
It was cold, about minus 10C but we were provided with coveralls that kept us warm, dry and the wind out. The sleds also had a hood with windows that kept most of the wind out – that’s what the higher black things are in the photos and once you’re in the sled they get pulled back over the top. Yes, those are reindeer skins we sat on in the sleds and the hair shed like crazy all over our clothes.
